Borealis Polymers Oy, Dynea Chemicals Oy’s Hamina and Joroinen plants, and Eka Polymer Latex Oy have all been awarded the Chemical Industry Safety Prize for 2010. The companies were recognised for their long-term, extremely productive work to improve safety. The safety prize is awarded to companies committed to environmental, health and safety programme Responsible Care.
Today, SOK’s subsidiary AS Prisma Peremarket opens its first store outside of Tallinn. The new store has more than 9 000 sq. metres of retail area, making it the largest hypermarket in the East-Viru county and also the store with the best selection. According to Janne Lihavainen, the Managing Director of AS Prisma Peremarket, Prisma’s competitive advantages in Narva are its prime location, good prices and wide selection. The new hypermarket has created more than 100 new jobs. The new shopping centre in Narva is owned by Vicus Limited, a development and investment company based in Finland.

The programme features an impressive variety of high-level speakers and panelists representing key stakeholders from around the world, who have an impact on the overall policy environment related to chemicals.
SOK’s Supervisory Board has earlier today appointed Kuisma Niemelä, Managing Director of Keskimaa Osk, to assume leadership of SOK. Mr Niemelä will begin his work as the chief executive officer on 1 April 2010.
