SOK concentrates on the Sokos Hotels chain in Russia

The high quality spa hotel Holiday Club St.Petersburg which is located in the centre of St. Petersburg will become part of the Sokos Hotels chain from March 2009 onwards. The newest hotel of the chain will be called SokosHotelPalaceBridge.
The aim of SOK is to be the leading hotel management company in St. Petersburg by 2012, and it is easier to reach this aim by having one hotel brand only.
– Operating in a new market area is always challenging and requires a lot of resources. Sokos Hotels is a more well-known brand in both Finland and Russia as well as internationally. All of our three hotels in St. Petersburg are now operating. Therefore it is wiser to focus launching in the Russian market with one brand only, says the General Manager Lorentz Salo.
SOK bought the Holiday Club St. Petersburg hotel project from Holiday Club Resorts Oy in 2007 and the opening of the spa hotel was carried out under the Holiday Club brand. The hotel was opened in January 2008 and the spa in September last year.
Sokos Hotel Palace Bridge is located on Vasily Island in the centre of St. Petersburg, only a few hundred metres from the famous Palace Bridge and several other main sights of the city. There are 278 hotel rooms, 12 suites and 8 meeting rooms, largest of which has room for over 300 people. The hotel offers a wide range of restaurants: a Spanish restaurant Sevilla, atmospheric fine dining restaurant Portofino, Bridges Lobby Lounge which is open 24 hours a day, Eliseev Wine Cellar, Garden Café and a relaxed dining restaurant The Cellar, which features six bowling alleys. You can also find a gym, 30 indoor parking spaces and a full service spa with treatment rooms and different types of saunas.
The high levels of service and quality of the hotel will remain the same after the conversion. The staff will be trained according to the Sokos Hotels service concept operating models. The hotel spa will keep its current name Holiday Club Spa, and the co-operation with Holiday Club Resorts Oy will continue.
S Group now has three hotels in St. Petersburg. Sokos Hotel Olympic Garden, which has 348 rooms, was opened in June 2008. The hotel is located in the central area, along Moskovsky prospekt, approximately three kilometres from St. Isaac’s Church. Sokos Hotel Vasilievsky was opened in December 2008. The hotel has 255 lovely rooms, lobby bar, Brasserie Repin, a restaurant specialising in French-Russian cuisine, 8th Line pub, small meeting rooms and a gym, sauna and a garage. Sokos Hotel Vasilievsky is situated on the 8th line of Vasily Island, only a short walk away from the main sights of St. Petersburg.
Sokos Hotels is the largest hotel chain in Finland. The chain has 46 hotels in Finland and Sokos Hotel Viru in Tallinn, Estonia. The Sokos Hotels chain, which is part of the S Group, offers professional service to business and conference customers, and a variety of options to leisure travellers.

SOK inriktar sig på Sokos Hotels-kedjan i Ryssland
Det högklassiga spahotellet Holiday Club St. Petersburg i centrum av S:t Petersburg blir en del av Sokos Hotels-kedjan fr.o.m. mars 2009. Det nyaste hotellet i kedjan får namnet Sokos Hotel Palace Bridge.
SOK har som mål att vara det ledande hotellföretaget i S:t Petersburg före år 2012, ett mål som lättare kan nås med ett hotellvarumärke.
–Det är alltid en utmaning att göra inträde på en ny marknad och det krävs mycket resurser. Sokos Hotels känner man bättre till både i Finland, Ryssland och internationellt. Alla våra tre hotellenheter i S:t Petersburg är nu öppna. Därför är det klokare att sköta lanseringen under ett varumärke på den ryska marknaden, berättar Lorentz Salo, hotelldirektör på Sokos Hotel Palace Bridge.
SOK köpte hotellprojektet Holiday Club St. Petersburg av Holiday Club Resorts Ab år 2007 och spahotellet öppnades under varumärket Holiday Club. Hotellet öppnades i januari 2008 och badinrättningen i september ifjol.
Sokos Hotel Palace Bridge ligger i centrum av S:t Petersburg på ön Vasili, några hundra meter från den berömda Palatsbron och flera andra av de främsta sevärdheterna i S:t Petersburg. Hotellet har 278 rum, 12 sviter och 8 konferensrum, av vilka det största rymmer över 300 personer. I hotellet finns restaurangen Sevilla som bjuder på spanska delikatesser, den stämningsfulla fine-diningrestaurangen Portofino, Bridges Lobby Lounge som är öppen dygnet runt, vinkällaren Eliseev Wine Cellar, kaféet Garden Café samt den trivsamma kvällsrestaurangen The Cellar som bl.a. har sex bowlingbanor. Hotellet har också ett gym, 30 parkeringsplatser inomhus och en badinrättning med full service och behandlings- och bastuavdelningar.
Hotellets service och kvalitet hålls på samma nivå som tidigare trots förändringarna. Personalen får verksamhetsmodeller som följer hotellkedjans servicekoncept. Badinrättningen i hotellet går även framöver under namnet Holiday Club Spa och samarbetet med Holiday Club Resorts Ab fortsätter.
S-gruppen har nu tre hotell i S:t Petersburg. Sokos Hotel Olympic Garden med 348 rum öppnades i juni 2008. Hotellet ligger centralt längs Moskovskii prospekt ungefär tre kilometer från Isakskatedralen. Sokos Hotel Vasilievsky öppnades i december 2008. Hotellet har 255 charmerande rum, en lobbybar, rysk-franska Brasserie Repin, puben 8th line, små konferensrum samt ett gym, en bastuavdelning och en egen parkeringshall. Sokos Hotel Vasilievsky ligger på ön Vasili, 8:e linjen, på kort gångavstånd från många av de främsta sevärdheterna i S:t Petersburg.
